Polished Concrete Process

Process

  • Once your concrete slab has been laid, allow 14-28 days to cure.
  • With new Developments we prefer to Grind the slab before any construction starts. This enables us to grind the slab up to the edge
  • At this stage we require customer to be on site to approve the amount of exposure required.
  • If construction has started or it’s an existing construction, we would prefer to leave off skirting boards, Joinery and final coats of Painting  until after we are finished(unless painting is already completed).

    Stages

Grind with Coarse 30 Grit metal tooling to expose the amount of aggregate and flatness of the slab, making sure the whole floor is Ground even and the customer is satisfied with the amount of exposure.

    1. Grind with Medium 60 Grit to remove 30 grit
    2. Grind with Fine 120 Grit also Grouting the floor using Dust from the concrete and a liquid grouting agent which fills in any pin holes (entrapped air pockets) and very fine cracks throughout the concrete
    3. Apply the liquid Densifier/ Hardener which reacts with the concrete to create an extremely hard surface.
    4. The next Day we then apply another light coating of Hardener and use the 50 Grit Resin Pads
    5. Use 100 Grit Resin Pads [ MATT FINISH]
    6. Use 200 Grit Resin Pads
    7. Polish with 400 Grit Resin Pads [LOW SHEEN]
    8. Polish with 800 Grit Resin Pads [HIGH SHEEN]
    9. Polish with 1500 Grit Resin Pads
    10. Polish with 3000 Grit Resin Pads[HIGH GLOSS]
    11. Application of a protective sealer.
